Welcome to Snippet Sunday and Weekend Writing Warriors! For those new to this, fellow writers post eight sentences from one of our works.
I’m spotlighting my upcoming release, MUST LOVE BREECHES, until its release in September. Some of you veterans from Six Sentence Sunday will remember this story, though the opening has changed a lot. So, Isabelle was at a reenactment ball and has stepped back in time to 1834, though she doesn’t know it yet. Skipping ahead a few paragraphs to when she meets Ada. Just before this, Isabelle had introduced herself to Ada and learned her name:
“Oh, that’s neat. You must be named after Ada Byron Lovelace? Or are you reenacting Ada’s persona? She’s always fascinated me. First computer programmer in the world, an’ all.” Good Lord, she was babbling. Deep breath.
Now Ada looked even more confused. “I-I am sorry. I do not understand. The words you say are altogether strange.”

She’s finally met the man of her dreams. There’s only one problem: he lives in a different century.
“A fresh, charming new voice” – New York Times bestselling author Tessa Dare
HOW FAR WOULD YOU TRAVEL FOR LOVE?
A mysterious artifact zaps Isabelle Rochon to pre-Victorian England, but before she understands the card case’s significance a thief steals it. Now she must find the artifact, navigate the pitfalls of a stiffly polite London, keep her time-traveling origins a secret, and resist her growing attraction to Lord Montagu, the Vicious Viscount so hot, he curls her toes.
To Lord Montagu nothing makes more sense than keeping his distance from the strange but lovely Colonial. However, when his scheme for revenge reaches a stalemate, he convinces Isabelle to masquerade as his fiancée. What he did not bargain on is being drawn to her intellectually as well as physically.
Lord Montagu’s now constant presence overthrows her equilibrium and her common sense. Isabelle thought all she wanted was to return home, but as passion flares between them, she must decide when her true home—as well as her heart—lies.

This one I have to read.
I hope you enjoy it! Ada is a major secondary character…
Oh that’s funny! And I love how you made Ada’s response so fit to her time.
Love the first hint that things have shifted. Great snippet, Angela. 🙂
That’s too funny. I love how she manages to confuse her even though that wasn’t her intend.
My bet is that Isabelle will think that Ada is just very good at maintaining the role play of her persona. I love Ada’s confusion — and Isabelle’s babbling.
“altogether strange” indeed. I predict more confusion ahead.
Love the cover!
Great snippet. Methinks the next snippet will be very interesting for Isabelle. 🙂
I have a feeling she’s going to keep stepping in it for quite a while before she realizes what has happened. This is gonna be fun!
Squee! I love Ada so much!
Can’t wait for the release, Angela! This has always sounded like such a fun read. 🙂 Good luck!
Well your heroine certainly has geek cred, even if she doesn’t quite get that she’s in a different time!
Oh my, how awkward – and totally humorous although I don’t think I’d be laughing if I were Isabelle. Great snippet.
Nice snippet. Love the dialogue.
