I like my hunky guys, like Johnny Depp and Alexander Skarsgard, but I also like ‘em slightly dorky, so today I thought I’d profile the man who’s often credited with bringing dorky mainstream, Adam Brody, voted Sexiest Man Alive by People in 2004.
First, a disclaimer from the man himself:
“I’m a fake intellectual,” he says while wearing giant sunglasses and eating his first meal of the day–a cheeseburger–at 1 p.m. “I’m not that well read. Which I’m insecure about since I’ve gotten the [intellectual] niche.” [from "Looking for Mr. Adorkable" in Time]
Be that as it may, he still qualifies as a Hunk Who Reads, so let’s find out for ourselves. In the photo above, he’s reading No Country for Old Men.
Here are some times he’s picked up books from the Book Soup bookstore on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood:

And here, a fan catches him at a local bookstore:

His favorite books are: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay
by Michael Chabon, and Less Than Zero
by Bret Easton Ellis.
And how’s this for promoting reading — he has volunteered as an actor with the Young Storytellers Program, which is dedicated to developing literacy, self-expression and self-esteem in elementary school children!
An avid comic book reader, he cowrote the six-issue comic-book series Red Menace. He has apparently been trying his hand at writing screenplays. He’s been quoted as saying:
I’d like to write a little bit. If I could trade being an actor for a writer, I’d rather be a writer. But I don’t know if I’m any good at it.
So that’s this week’s Hunk Who Reads!
